"Anyone who isn't embarrassed of who they were last year probably isn't learning enough." - Alain de Botton
Next month, I will celebrate the 5th anniversary of Thrive. It has been a fantastic ride so far. I am doing the work that I was meant to do. To boot, I am surrounded by amazing teachers, clients, and friends. I am so grateful.
Connie Chwan was kind enough to share the above quote with me a couple of years ago, and it resonated with me. However, I don’t think it really got it until recently. As I looked back on the last 12 months, I felt it in my bones. I was even shaking a little bit. This year, in addition to other lessons, I learned how to manage me, through the Positive Intelligence program.
I am more productive.
I can quiet my inner critic.
I am more present.
I am happier.
And I got to this place in what has been one of the most challenging years on the books.
Learning to be present and happy in the moment led me to make a December Resolution to appreciate this season rather than sprinting to the Christmas finish line. I’ve stayed the course. Last night while shopping, I felt contentment. I wasn’t wallowing in fear of not getting everything done.
Over the next two weeks, my aim is to slow down further and appreciate the many people who have taught me, brought me joy, and continue to enrich my work and life.
Looking forward to 2022, I will continue my Positive Intelligence journey, but now as both a teacher and a student. I invite you to take my 7-week course to build your mental fitness. In this life-changing course, you will learn to quiet the negative thoughts and emotions in your brain and operate from a place of empathy, focus, and innovation. To learn more about it, check out my Positive Intelligence page. And, you can take the free saboteur assessment to understand more about the source of your inner critic and negative emotions.
I will close registration on January 3.
My friends, thank you for taking the time to read this. I wish you all the best for happy, healthy holidays and a joyful new year!
